Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos has made its triumphant return to modern gaming platforms, and fans seeking a tangible copy can look forward to multiple physical editions coming to Nintendo Switch in 2027. After launching digitally in late October 2026, Argonaut Games has partnered with two physical publishers to bring the beloved platformer to collectors worldwide.
Digital Release Now Available
Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos launched digitally across multiple platforms simultaneously. The remastered version is currently available for immediate download on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This marks the first time in years that the classic 1999 platformer has been accessible on modern hardware, beating the highly anticipated GTA 6 to market in what Argonaut Games playfully acknowledged as a significant achievement.
The digital version provides instant access to the game’s complete adventure, allowing players to dive back into the Kingdom of the Gobbos without waiting for physical production and shipping timelines. For those who prefer digital libraries or want to start playing immediately, this option remains available alongside the upcoming physical releases.
Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos Switch Physical Editions
Physical edition collectors have two distinct publishing partnerships to choose from, depending on their region and preferred timing. Both publishers are bringing Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos to Nintendo Switch with some important details about compatibility and release windows.
Strictly Limited Games - European Physical Publisher
Strictly Limited Games serves as the physical publishing partner for European markets. Their release schedule targets winter 2027 and includes both Croc Legend of the Gobbos and Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos. A notable aspect of this partnership is the focus on Nintendo Switch 2 compatibility.
The physical copies from Strictly Limited Games are designed for Nintendo Switch 2 but remain fully playable on the original Nintendo Switch console. This forward-compatible approach ensures that current Switch owners can purchase the physical edition without concern, while also preparing collectors for Nintendo’s next-generation hardware. The PS5 physical edition also forms part of Strictly Limited Games’ European catalog.
PM Studios - North American Physical Publisher
PM Studios handles physical distribution for North American territories with a spring 2027 release window. Like their European counterpart, PM Studios is releasing both Croc Legend of the Gobbos and Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos in physical format for Nintendo Switch 2, with backward compatibility confirmed for the original Switch.
In addition to the Switch versions, PM Studios expanded their physical offerings to include Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos on PS5 for North American buyers. The publisher also announced physical editions of Croc Legend of the Gobbos for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, plus Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos for Xbox Series X|S, providing comprehensive physical options across all major platforms.

Classic Versions on Steam
Alongside the remastered versions, Argonaut Games is preserving gaming history by releasing the original versions on Steam. Croc Classic and Croc 2 Classic represent the unaltered 1997 and 1999 releases, running on modern PC hardware without the enhancements of the remastered editions.
Each classic version carries a $4.99 price point, making them accessible for players curious about experiencing the games as they originally appeared. These versions appeal to retro gaming enthusiasts and collectors who value historical preservation alongside modern remasters.
The Croc Double Pack on Steam offers an alternative purchasing option, bundling Croc Legend of the Gobbos Platinum Edition with Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos. This package provides savings for buyers interested in both titles and serves as a convenient option for players who owned the first game and want to complete their collection.
Why Physical Editions Matter for Collectors
The announcement of physical editions addresses a significant portion of the gaming community that values tangible game ownership. Physical copies provide several advantages for collectors and traditional game buyers:
Preservation and Ownership: Physical media ensures long-term access independent of digital storefront availability or account status. Once you own the cartridge, you maintain access regardless of future platform changes.
Resale Value: Limited physical runs from specialty publishers like Strictly Limited Games often appreciate in value over time, making them attractive to collectors beyond their gaming utility.
Display and Collection: Physical games contribute to gaming libraries and display collections in ways digital purchases cannot replicate.
Gift Giving: Physical editions remain the preferred format for gift-giving, offering a tangible item with retail packaging.
The partnership with established limited-run publishers suggests these physical editions may have restricted production quantities, potentially increasing their collectibility and long-term value.
Release Timeline Comparison
